The young creator group exhibition “BLOND BUDDHAS” was held at Komyoji temple in Kamiyacho from the 27th to 30th of October. 

It was a magical experience for us to be able to work in this kind of venue, we send our deepest and most sincere thanks to our Japanese friends who helped us throughout the project, and to the chief munk and his family for their open mind and warm generosity.    Hontoni arigato!!!

Glass artist Åsa Jungnelius made a bold and poetic installation inside the main hall of the temple; an altar of her own in front of the Buddha. Included in Åsa´s altar installation was the unique candles “Aurora” by designer Monica Förster.

Aia Jüdes showed a selection from her Japanese photography exhibition “Tokyo transience”, produced in collaboration with the East Asian Museum in Stockholm and with support by Hasselblad.

In the garden and inside the annex of the temple,  design quartet “defyra” created lovely atmosphere with berry-balloons, bamboo pavilions and organic textile lanterns inspired by Japanese “furoshiki”. During the exhibition period the girls held daily work shops creating traditional Swedish paper flowers with a modern twist.

Artist Simon Fagéus presented his sound installation “The Conversation” on the open terrace. Sound recordings from the oldest tree in Sweden (approx. 9550 year old) was mixed with sound recordings of the oldest tree in Japan (approx. 7000 years old).

Cutting edge artist Åsa Jungnelius is in Tokyo to show her gorgeous art glass produced by the eminent glass company Kosta Boda.
Åsa will participate in the group show “Blond Buddhas” at Komyoji temple running from 28-30th Oct.
